Code of Conduct

1. SCOPE OF APPLICATION

  • The Managing Committee of FYSA has established this Code of Conduct to uphold the integrity of sports, promote fair play, and ensure the safety and well-being of its members and participants in FYSA leagues. This Code of Conduct (the "Code of Conduct") is adopted and implemented as part of the FYSA. The Code of Conduct applies to all participants in the FYSA, including players, parents, team officials, referees, umpires, and coaches.
  • The FYSA is issuing and adopting this Code of Conduct to provide an effective means of upholding both the spirit and the rules of each sport, ensuring that all participants (players, their parents, team officials, referees, umpires, and coaches) conduct themselves appropriately and refrain from behavior that may be construed as a violation of the Code of Conduct. All matters related to improper conduct will be dealt with by the Management Committee/Disciplinary Committee fairly and expeditiously.
  • All matches and games shall be conducted in the true spirit of sportsmanship, and all players, their parents, team officials, and coaches are requested to adopt this code.
  • No player or official shall, during any match, whether on or off the field of play, engage in conduct unbecoming of the sport.
  • All members, players, parents, team officials, etc., agree to protect the spirit of the game. The spirit of the game involves RESPECT for:
    1. Opponents
    2. One's own team
    3. The role of the referees, umpires, or officials
    4. The game’s traditions and values.
  • All members, players, parents, team officials, etc., shall take utmost care and precautions for the safety and security of all participants.

2. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THE PLAYERS:

All players, either through their parents or by themselves, are automatically bound by and required to comply with all provisions of this Code of Conduct.

    All players and their parents agree:

  • It is their personal responsibility to familiarize themselves with the requirements of the Code of Conduct, including what constitutes an offense under the Code.
  • To submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Management Committee/Disciplinary Committee to hear and determine charges brought pursuant to the Code.
  • Not to bring any proceedings related to the violation of the Code in any court or other forum.

3. CODE OF CONDUCT OFFENSES FOR PLAYERS

  • Sports should be played not only within their rules but also within the spirit of the game. Any action that abuses this spirit or causes harm to the integrity of the sport will be subject to appropriate proceedings by the Management Committee/Disciplinary Committee.
  • Players shall not abuse equipment, clothing, or any facilities during coaching and matches.
  • Players and team officials must always accept the referee’s or umpire’s decisions and must not show dissent or react provocatively.
  • Players shall not use crude or abusive language or make gestures that are obscene, offensive, or insulting.
  • Players shall refrain from excessively audible or repetitious swearing.
  • Players shall refrain from excessive appealing or questioning officials' decisions.
  • Players shall refrain from inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with other players during a match.
  • Players shall refrain from charging or advancing towards officials in an aggressive manner.
  • Players shall refrain from deliberate and malicious distractions or obstructions on the field of play.
  • Players shall refrain from throwing objects inappropriately or dangerously during a match.
  • Players shall refrain from using language or gestures that are seriously obscene, offensive, or insulting to others.
  • Players shall refrain from any actions that deliberately manipulate the course of a match for inappropriate strategic or tactical reasons.
  • Players shall refrain from intimidating or threatening officials or other participants.
  • Players shall refrain from acts of violence on or off the field of play.
  • Players shall refrain from racially abusive comments or behavior.
  • Players shall refrain from making unwelcome advances or contact toward other participants.
  • Players must be punctual for both training and matches.
  • Players must wear appropriate protective equipment during matches and training sessions.
  • No alcohol or illegal substances shall be consumed by players during the hours of play.
  • Players shall adhere to the dress code and present themselves in a neat and appropriate manner for play.
  • Players shall not engage in match-fixing, betting, or any form of corruption as outlined in the FYSA's regulations.

4. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR REFEREES/UMPIRES/OFFICIALS

  • Officials shall not make any public statements or media comments that are detrimental to: a) The sport in general; b) Any particular match or game; c) The FYSA.
  • Officials shall not disclose or comment on any alleged breach of this Code of Conduct or the Code of Conduct for players and team officials unless required under the provisions of this Code.
  • Officials shall not engage in match-fixing, betting, or corruption.
  • Officials shall not use or be involved in the distribution of illegal substances.
  • Officials shall always observe and comply with FYSA regulations.
  • Officials are the sole judges of fair and unfair play and are authorized to intervene during a match in cases of: a) Time-wasting; b) Damaging equipment or facilities; c) Dangerous or unfair play; d) Any other action considered to be unfair.
  • No alcohol shall be consumed by officials during the hours of play.
  • Officials shall meet the standards expected of their role and shall not fail to observe these standards due to external influences such as betting.

5.CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS

  • I. Parents shall encourage their children to learn the rules of the game and to play within the spirit of those rules.
  • II. Parents should discourage unfair play and disputes with officials or coaches.
  • III. Parents should guide their children to recognize good performance, not just results.
  • IV. Prevention of Malpractices Code
  • V. Parents should set a good example by recognizing fair play and applauding good performances from all participants.
  • VI. Parents should support their child's involvement and help them enjoy the sport without imposing undue expectations.
  • VII. Parents should use correct and appropriate language at all times and discipline themselves in front of children.
  • VIII.Parents should ensure that their children condemn all forms of violence and never question the decision of an official.
  • IX. Parents should not ridicule a player for making a mistake and should respect all participants.
  • X.Parents should be courteous to all participants, officials, and supporters.
  • XI. Parents are responsible for the well-being, safety, and compliance of their children with the Code of Conduct.
  • XII. Parents shall not engage in match-fixing, betting, or any form of corruption.

6. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COACHES/CAPTAINS/MANAGERS/TEAM OFFICIALS

No alcohol or illegal substances shall be consumed by team officials during the hours of play.

    All team leaders shall:

  • I. Instruct players to avoid time-wasting and maintain the flow of the game.
  • II. Ensure players conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the traditional image of the sport..

    All coaches, captains, managers, and team officials shall:

  • Be dressed appropriately in team uniforms.
  • Not coach or disrupt play during a match.
  • Not verbally abuse or intimidate any participant, official, or spectator.
  • Not communicate with opposing players, coaches, or officials during a match inappropriately.
  • Not bring the sport into disrepute through media comments that question integrity or imply bias.
  • Respect the rights and dignity of each person, treating everyone equally.
  • Prioritize the well-being and safety of all participants.
  • Encourage players to accept responsibility for their behavior and performance.
  • Cooperate fully with other coaches, managers, officials, and medical staff.
  • Promote sportsmanship and fair play, never condoning violations of the rules or the use of prohibited substances or techniques.
  • Instruct players to avoid time-wasting and ensure the match serves the best interests of the participants, especially children.
  • Ensure that all participants, including parents and spectators, behave in a manner that serves the best interests of children.

7. SANCTIONS

If the Management Committee/Disciplinary Committee determines that an offense under the Code of Conduct has been committed, it will impose an appropriate sanction on the Player, Team Official, or the respective member.

The Management Committee/Disciplinary Committee shall determine the duration of the suspension for the Player, Team Official, or such other member based on the nature of the offense. The Committee also reserves the right to terminate the existing right of the Player, Team Official, or member to participate in any FYSA league, depending on the seriousness of the offense committed.

The decision of the Management Committee/Disciplinary Committee shall be final and binding on all stakeholders.

8. AMENDMENTS AND INTERPRETATIONS

The Code of Conduct may be amended from time to time by the FYSA, with such amendments coming into effect on the date specified by FYSA.

The headings used for the various articles of the Code of Conduct are for guidance purposes only and shall not be considered part of the substance of the Code of Conduct or influence the language of the provisions to which they refer.

If any article or provision of the Code of Conduct is held invalid, unenforceable, or illegal for any reason, the Code of Conduct shall remain otherwise in full force apart from such article or provision, which shall be deemed deleted insofar as it is invalid, unenforceable, or illegal.

APPENDIX A

Any participant or member of the FYSA, including but not limited to players, parents, referees, umpires, coaches, managers, captains, and team officials, shall be in breach of this Code of Conduct under Article 3.3 if they are found to have engaged in any of the following conduct:

  1. Bet on or in relation to any Match or series of Matches, or on any FYSA event.
  2. Induced or encouraged any other person to bet on or in relation to any Match or series of Matches or on any FYSA event, or offered the facility for such bets to be placed.
  3. Gambled or entered into any other form of financial speculation on or in relation to any Match or on any FYSA event, or induced or encouraged any other person to do so.
  4. Was a party to contriving or attempting to contrive the result of any Match, any aspect of any Match, or the occurrence of any FYSA event.
  5. Induced or encouraged any player not to perform on their merits in any Match due to any such arrangement of the kind referred to in paragraph 4 above.
  6. Received from another person any money, benefit, or other reward (whether financial or otherwise) for the provision of any information concerning the weather, the teams, the state of the ground, or the outcome of any Match or the occurrence of any FYSA event unless such information has been provided to a newspaper or other form of media in accordance with an obligation entered into in the normal course and disclosed in advance to FYSA.
  7. Received or provided any money, benefit, or other reward (whether financial or otherwise) which could bring them or the sport into disrepute.
  8. Received any approaches from another person to engage in conduct such as that described in any of the above paragraphs 1 to 7 and failed to disclose the same in writing to FYSA.
  9. Is aware that any other referee, umpire, or individual has engaged in conduct, or received approaches, as described in any of the above paragraphs 1 to 8 and has failed to disclose the same in writing to FYSA.
  10. Has received or is aware that any other person has received threats of any nature which might induce them to engage in conduct, or acquiesce in any proposal made by an approach, such as that described in any of the above paragraphs 1 to 9 and has failed to disclose the same in writing to FYSA.
  11. Has engaged in any conduct which, in the opinion of FYSA, relates directly or indirectly to any of the above paragraphs 1 to 10 and is prejudicial to the interests of the sport.
